Enchanted Island

We decided to venture out today and meet our friends Annette, Maya and Cruz at Enchanted Island. We didn't know what to expect, but it turned out great. The kids got to ride the merry-go-round, train, helicopter, cars and bumper boats. They really seemed to enjoy themselves and we couldn't have asked for better weather. What a fun day!
This picture is hilarious because the girls kept saying they wanted to ride on the dragon, and once on, it goes a lot faster then we all expected. As you can tell, Rilyn would scream she was "all done" each time she would pass by.

Where Does Pee Come From?

Lately it seems as if we have been in the house a lot, so Jeff decided to get Rilyn out to get some fresh air. They took her Dora bike out into our alley way and she had a blast riding around.

Today while Rilyn was in her room playing she ran out saying she had an accident. I asked what happened and she told me she went poo-poo (which really means pee-pee), but she had a pull up diaper on so I wasn't too concerned. She then went on to tell me how her "poo-poos" were in her belly and then her gooza (which is butt in polish). Jeff and I looked at eachother and started cracking up. I guess that makes sense to a kid on where pee comes from. She later decided she needed to give her and her babies a bath to get "all clean".

Thanksgiving Day Part II

Although Kendrik may have not said much, it looked like he was a happy customer! Overall, our Thanksgiving turned out great and we were so thankful to share it with our friends The Rifkins and our neighbor, Molly. We did miss our families and friends that we are away from, but hoped everyone enjoyed their turkey day!

I have to admit I was pretty proud of my turkey, it turned out delicious. Don't be too impressed though, my gravy didn't turn out so we had to use store bought gravy.

Thanksgiving Day Part I

Happy Thanksgiving 2008! Unfortunately, as you can see below, Emerson missed out on our family picture, since she pretty much slept all day. Thank you from Mama, since I definitely need undistracted time to prepare and eat Thanksgiving dinner.
So, some of you may know my husband's obsession with having a blanket over his face, and Rilyn has always followed in his footsteps with having her Duckie blanket on hers. It looks like both girls are definitely their father's daughters! (Don't worry, we didn't leave the blanket there after we took the picture.)

Rilyn was mesmerized by the Macy's Day Thanksgiving parade, it was so cute to see her so interested in not only the balloons but also the bands.

My Best Attempt....

So, with Thanksgiving tomorrow I started my cooking today. This is actually the first year I will be celebrating without my family. I decided to attempt to make some of the traditional items we have each year. One in particular is a bean salad that my Grandma Patsy always made. Unfortunately, she is not with us anymore and I never had learned how to make it. Don't ask me why I figured I could make it on my own. As you can see in the picture above, it turned out looking like a bowl of mush. Luckily, Jeff, my taste tester, said it was good. I don't know if he was afraid to tell me otherwise considering it took me 3 hours to prepare! Either way, those having Thanksgiving with us tomorrow have never experienced the "real" bean salad, so hopefully despite the look they may enjoy it. I also attached a new picture of the girls, since the other picture isn't so pretty to look at!

Dada's Home

Hooray, Dada's finally home! We went to pick him up last night at the airport and it was so cute to see Rilyn start sprinting toward him once she saw him come around the corner. She was very excited to say the least. I think Jeff was a little overwhelmed going from being alone for two weeks to having both Rilyn and I talking to him nonstop for the remainder of the night.

I have to today I did something that only a mom can appreciate, I went grocery shopping for Thanksgiving dinner without any kids and it was so relaxing!

We finally got a bath for Emerson, which has made a world of difference. She really seems to enjoy it too.

Finally, I have to say congratulations to our friends the Green's, they had a healthy little boy this evening and we are so thrilled for them! We can't wait to meet you Owen.....

What A Day!

So, as some as you may know, Jeff has been gone for the last two weeks working on his spanish in the Dominican Republic. Since today was our last day without Dada I figured we should do something fun to pass the day. Rilyn and I decided to build a fort, or tent according to her, in her room. I remember doing this as a kid and thought is was greatest thing. Rilyn really enjoyed our little space and we ended up playing Dr., having a tea party and then having a picnic with all her "friends" aka stuffed animals.

Sounds like a good day, right? Well, that is what I was thinking until the evening rolled around. Emerson could not be consoled this evening, it seemed as if she was crying every 5 minutes. During bath time I was working on getting Emerson to sleep while Rilyn was playing with all her toys. Next thing I know Rilyn is yelling for me that she had an accident. I walk in to find that she had pooped in her bath, and of course it was the kind of poop that divided into several different pieces. While I tried to figure out the best approach to clean both Rilyn and the tub, of course Emerson sat and cried the whole time. By the time I got everything cleaned up I decided to give Emerson a bath in the sink. Right in the middle of her bath Rilyn started yelling that she had to go pee pee. So, I am sure you can imagine me grabbing Emerson out of the sink, soaking wet, running with Rilyn into the bathroom, trying to help her up onto the potty while holding Emerson and thinking the whole time, THANK GOD Jeff gets home tomorrow. The question I have is, how do single moms do it???
