Our Babies

Here are some recent pictures of our "babies"................

Again, I will apologize for the long delay in updating my blog. I wish I would make more time to keep this up to date! In the past month Emerson has become our little monster, climbing on top of every piece of furniture throughout the house, including the kitchen counters. She is one heck of a daredevil and the cause of my stress. On the other hand, she is the sweetest, cutest and funniest child with quite a personality. For every time she makes my heart stop with fear, she makes my heart melt with love. She is a copycat of her sister, who she adores and wants to be next to all day long. On the days Rilyn has school, when I ask Emerson if she wants to go pick up RiRi, she bolts towards the door in excitement. Rilyn on the other hand is dealing with wanting her privacy, not having to worry about a little sister messing up her stuff.

Rilyn these days is quite the dancer and hip shaker! She very rarely is seen without one hand on the hip and a beat in her step. Her latest love is playing learning games on the computer. Jeff and I continue to be amazed by her and how quickly she learns things. She already knows all the functions of the computer, probably better than us.

She has gotten down writing her name, speaking a lot of words in Spanish, using scissors, spelling purple, go, green and her name of course and multiple other things that seem far beyond her years.

It is hard to believe our baby will be turning 4! I keep telling her to not grow up so fast and she reassures me by saying, "don't worry mom, I will always be your little baby!". :)

Vegas, Baby and Our Babies.....

This year Jeff and I received one of the best Christmas presents ever, a trip for the two of us for 3 whole days, kids free, which by the way has never happened since we had Rilyn 4 years ago!! My mom came out to watch the kiddos while Jeff and I took off for Vegas. It was such a fun 3 days, filled with gambling, walking, drinking, sleeping and LOTS of eating (chips and salsa, of course!). My mom convinced us the girls were good for her, but I sure she was exhausted. We really appreciated having some alone time for once and made a pact that we would try to take a mini-trip together once a year. Here's some pics from our trip and couple of our girls too......

I won the award for best wife for the day when I agreed to go to the Hooters Casino, which ended up being funny considering our waitress was 7 months pregnant :).

We were fortunate enough to get to see "O" while in Vegas, which was truly amazing. For once my husband was speechless for an hour and a half!

Disney On Ice, Rain Storms and Marathons....

For Christmas this year, Santa brought Rilyn a new princess dress and tickets to see Disney On Ice. It was a fun night, especially seeing all the kids dressed up.. Rilyn had a blast seeing The Little Mermaid, Lion King, Cars and especially her highlight was Tinkerbell. Unfortunately, Emerson didn't understand why she couldn't walk around the whole time, so trying to keep her contained was quite a task!

Our little climber is at it again these days, finding new ways to challenge herself. Now, she likes to climb onto the toy box and sit in her basket of toys or climb up over onto the couch. She is always so proud of herself and of her accomplishments.

Lately, Emerson has been into carrying purses around, pushing the shopping cart or baby stroller and dressing up like her big sister. Unfortunately, Rilyn isn't liking having to share her old dress up costumes with her sister, which you can tell from her reaction in the next picture :).

Finally we have been having some rain which has allowed Rilyn to use her new rainboots and umbrella. The other day we let her go out and play in the puddles and then take a warm bubble bath afterwards, my kind of day!

Last weekend my friends Annette, Mark and myself ran our first half marathon. It was an awesome experience, which I doubt I will want to do again. We had a great time running as a team and were able to stay together the whole way. We far exceeded our expectations for ourselves and finished the race in only 2 hrs. 4 mins, a huge accomplishment. I am so thankful for the experience and friendships I have!

Here we are, thankful to finally be done! :)

An Amazing December!

This might be a fairly overwhelming blog for those who read this, but I had to do some major updating for myself in order to keep our memories alive over time and there was no better time then the present...........
December was such a great month for our family, we were lucky enough to spend most the month seeing those that we love. To start the month off, our close friends the Green's came to AZ for a week-long visit. It is hard to believe this was the first time we had seen each other since the "babies" were born, which had been over a year! It was fun to see the little ones interact and the big girls play and bicker like sisters. Christina and I enjoyed catching up, shopping, eating and drinking together, while the guys got to golf and watch football. We are so blessed to have such amazing friends!
Here are some pictures of the kids hanging out......

One night, us adults actually managed to have a night out! Thank you for babysitters :)

It worked out perfect that the weekend that Sean and Christina were visiting was when our neighborhood Christmas party was. The girls enjoyed talking to Santa and riding the horse and sleigh with Mrs. Claus while listening to her read The Night Before Christmas.

It was so sad to see them leave after such a great week!

Here's our little reindeers getting ready for our Christmas adventure to CA.

While in CA we were able to spend time with both families and lots of friends. Here Rilyn was enjoying some games of Go Fish with Grandma Mary.
A tradition we continue to have is our annual baking day. Last year Rilyn finally got to help in the decorating of the sugar cookies. This year she seemed to enjoy it just as much. I think she talked about cookies for a week straight!

Gramps also gave her a lesson on dipping the peanut butter balls into the chocolate, yum!

Another tradition that we have is my Dad dresses as Santa each year on Christmas Eve to give an early present to all the good boys and girls......

Finally, Christmas morning/afternoon, before heading downstairs to see if Santa came, we have to take a pictures of all the kids and big kids on the stairs.

One of the best gifts this year was from Grammy, Papa and Gigi. Rilyn and Emerson woke up Christmas morning to find a new princess truck waiting to be driven. Unfortunately, Rilyn needs a few driving lessons, she doesn't seem to understand the importance of steering.
Christmas night, my sister made a Thanksgiving style dinner since this year we were all apart. It was delicious and I think my kids enjoyed it the most!

After putting Emerson to bed, us adults exchanged gifts while letting Rilyn be the official unwrapper. She also reminded everyone to say "thank you" and "you're welcome".

Finally, to end our trip, we spent 3 days at Lake Almanor where my parents cabin is. It was fun to be in the snow and Rilyn could not get enough of being pulled around on the sled by Gramps and Uncle Grayson.

While at the cabin my Dad made his famous homemade pizza and passed the recipe down to my brother.

Uncle Grayson also made a pretty cool fort for him and Rilyn to play in, although Emerson wanted to check it out too!

On the way back down the mountain the girls were both pretty worn out, but Rilyn kept Emerson comforted, so cute :)

Our last night, Nana pulled out the lollipops and it was a BIG hit. I have never seen Emerson so happy for so long. She thought her lollipop was the greatest thing and we got a kick out of watching her eat it.

Rilyn has not taken off her new Snow White dress since she got it for Christmas, she has already asked if she can wear it to school this week.

I had to take a picture of Emerson because I was actually able to put a clip in her hair without her noticing, so it stayed in for a couple hours and she looked so cute!

Rilyn got a new kids cookbook for Christmas and of course as soon as we got home she wanted to try something out. She picked to make the lemon meringue cookies and they turned out pretty good.

Thank you to all our family and friends for making December 2009 such a memorable one. We look forward to what the new year will bring. We hope for a year filled with happiness, health and lots of laughter!!
